A new Edition and special events will mark the first year of Overwatch.

Blizzard will mark the first anniversary of Overwatch with a series of events and a Game of The Year Edition release.

The game will host a special Anniversary event from May 23 to June 12, with a free weekend happening from May 26-29. During this weekend, new players will be able to play the full game – complete with level up and customization abilities – with the option of transferring their progress to a purchased copy at a later date.

The Game of the Year Edition will be available digitally on May 23 and replace the Origins Edition. The new release will feature 10 Loot Boxes, new character skins, some Heroes of the Storm content, character portraits and Hearthstone card backs.

Overwatch is available now on Xbox One, PlayStation 4 and PC. Watch a special Year One video below.

I’m Megan, twentysomething aspiring writer, editor and film-maker who probably watches more television than is deemed healthy and if I’m not doing that then I’m either plugged into my computer or console of choice. Current obsessions include Assassin’s Creed, Lego Batman/Lego everything, The Walking Dead, Doctor Who, Supernatural, RuPaul’s Drag Race, Marvel everything and cosplay videos on YouTube. Also spend a good portion of time – and about 80% of my money – going to various Comic Cons (or planning to anyway) Someday I’ll step into reality but not right now – got too much to do elsewhere
